Com. Shalini is No More

Comrade Shalini ,the president of 'Janchetna' book foundation society, one of the trustees of "Anurag trust", member of Rahul foundation and director of Parikalpana publications passed away on the night of 29 March 2013.

Shalini had been battling cancer for the past three months. She was admitted to Delhi's Dharamshila Hospital on 27 march in the evening, where she was being treated since January. On 28 March, in the the morning her blood pressure dipped very low due to which she was shifted to I.C.U, where she breathed her last at 11.25 pm on 29 March. Doctors said due to internal bleeding and obstruction in the windpipe, at around 9 pm she had a cardiac arrest for 3-4 minutes. She however was revived with C.P.R and was kept on ventilator. Shalini's heartbeat sank again after an hour and this time the doctors were unable to resuscitate her.

Shalini was supposed to start the third round of chemotherapy on 29 March, but her body was not responding well to the treatment, her health had seriously deteriorated, So it was planned to take her to Naturelife International hospital in Calicut for further treatment. Dr. Anish Maru, the doctor treating her at Dharamshila had already been consulted in this regard earlier that day. She was to be taken to Naturelife International hospital as soon as her condition  improved the slightest bit so that she could undertake the exertion of travelling, Dr. Jacob, the head of Naturelife had been consulted for the course of her treatment there, but unfortunately she passed away.

Like a true communist Comrade Shalini faced every difficulty with courage till her very last breath. Shalini was steadfast in her resolve and was always committed to life values of a communist. She wanted to donate her body to a medical research institute but she could not get the opportunity to complete the legal formalities required for the process. As per her wish her dead body will be wrapped in the red flag and she will be cremated without any religious rituals. Her funeral will take place on 30 March at 4 pm in the Electric crematorium at Lodhi Road, Delhi.
